Central
Urban Métis Federation (1993) Incorporated (CUMFI) was
founded in 1993 and incorporated in 1994 by a group of Métis
people living in the City of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada to "ensure
that the voice of the Métis people is heard at the municipal
level within Saskatoon and district." CUMFI reorganized its non-profit
status within the Saskatchewan Non-Profit Corporation Act, 1995 to
register as a non-profit charitable organization, charitable number:

During
the past 10 years, CUMFI has grown to nearly 6000 registered members.
CUMFI has demonstrated to its members and stakeholders the professionalism
and capabilities to successfully deliver preventative, intervention,
and advocacy support programs and services to the urban Aboriginal
people of Saskatoon, primarily the urban Métis people. CUMFI
continues to develop collaborative partnerships with various agencies
and support groups to avoid duplication of program and service delivery.

CUMFI
is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, elected for a three-year
term by its registered members. |

|
| |
In
May 2000, CUMFI established a Community Advisory Committee to advise
on and oversee the implementation of CUMFI's overall housing strategy. |
